About Alliance Française DuPage

French conversation and cultural events in Chicago's Western Suburbs

Alliance Française DuPage members come from all over the Western suburbs of Chicago and beyond. Since March 2020, we have migrated all our programming online (using Zoom) due to the Coronavirus.

Take a moment to look through our website at our wide variety of AF DuPage events and activities:  French conversation groups, Language Workshop, Book Club, Ciné Club, and Special Events.

We would be delighted to see you online!  We’re a vibrant, diverse group and we’re eager to welcome new members. Whether you are a fluent French speaker or just enjoy French culture, you are sure to find an event that engages your desire for French language and cultural programming.

In normal times, we move our feast of activities throughout DuPage County and the Fox River Valley region, from Naperville to Wheaton to Downers Grove to Geneva and Saint Charles. After the pandemic, we hope to be able to join together again with fellow AF DuPage members at our annual signature events – Bastille Day Pique-Nique, Soirée Crêpes, Fête de Noël, and wine tastings. Until then, we have reimagined many of these activities into online formats.

Event Refund Policy

For some events  and activities, the Alliance Française of DuPage County requires an  additional event fee which can be paid by check or PayPal. Since  expenses are often paid or guaranteed before an event, we are not able  to assure a refund if a cancellation occurs after a payment has been  received.

If a cancellation occurs prior to the event date, the  event fee may be refunded at the discretion of the board if a  replacement can be found.

The Alliance Française de DuPage is run entirely by volunteers and financed almost entirely by membership dues. You will find members from all walks of life and with all levels of French, from beginners to native speakers, and make good friends as you attend our events.

So, n'attendez plus! Sign up below to be on our mailing list and come join us soon at an upcoming event.

The Alliance Francaise of DuPage County does not offer French language classes,  although we do have monthly Language Workshops for our members from  September - May.  These workshops are geared for an Advanced  Beginner/Intermediate level of fluency.

Here are some other options for French courses and tutors in our area:

Alliance Française of Chicago has a variety of French language courses for adults and children. Visit their website at www.af-chicago.org for more information.

Alliance Française du North Shore offers an intermediate level French class. Visit www.afnorthshore.org for class information.

College of DuPage has a program of French language courses in their regular curriculum that we can recommend. Visit www.cod.edu for class information or contact the French Department chairperson, Mirta Pagnucci, pagnuccim@cod.edu.

Waubonsee Community College also offers elementary and intermediate level French classes. Visit www.waubonsee.edu.

If you are interested in private tutoring, several of our AF DuPage members offer private lessons. Please contact us at afdupage@gmail.com for a list of available tutors.

We wish you luck with your French studies.

Programs Policy

AF DuPage programs are reserved for AF DuPage members only, although occasionally we invite members of other AF chapters to participate in special programs.  Due to security and privacy reasons, AF DuPage program, event and recording links may not be shared, posted or broadcast.
